FAQ
About The Breed
What is a Doodle?
A Doodle is a hybrid dog created by crossing a Poodle with another breed—commonly a Golden Retriever, Bernese Mountain Dog, or Labrador Retriever. This pairing is known for producing intelligent, low-shedding, family-friendly dogs.
Are Doodles hypoallergenic?
While no breed is completely hypoallergenic, Doodles are generally low-shedding and allergy-friendly due to their Poodle genetics. Coat type and generation influence allergy levels.
What Doodle generations do you offer (F1, F1B, F2, Multigen)?
Generations help predict coat type, shedding, and temperament:
• F1: 50% Poodle × 50% original breed
• F1B: 75% Poodle × 25% original breed
• F2 / Multigen: Two Doodles bred together for consistent traits
We’re happy to help you choose the right generation for your home.
Coats & Shedding
Do Doodles shed?
Most Doodles shed minimally, though shedding varies by coat type and generation. Regular grooming helps maintain a low-shedding coat.
What coat types do your puppies have?
Our puppies come in three beautiful coat styles:
• Smooth: Straighter coat, slightly more prone to shedding
• Fluffy/Wavy: Low-shedding and soft, the classic “teddy bear” look
• Curly: Tight curls, typically the most hypoallergenic option.
Registration
Can my Goldendoodle be registered with the AKC?
Goldendoodles cannot be registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) because they are a hybrid breed.
However, they may qualify for:
• CKC (Continental Kennel Club)
• GANA (Goldendoodle Association of North America)
• Hybrid registries such as DAPC or IDCR
Goldendoodles can also participate in AKC sports through the AKC Canine Partners program.
Breeding Rights
Does my puppy come with breeding rights?
All puppies are sold as pets only and come with a spay/neuter agreement unless otherwise pre-approved for breeding.
Breeding rights are limited, must be discussed before placing a deposit, and require additional fees and qualifications.

Who qualifies for a Guardian Home?
Families must:
• Live within our required radius
• Provide consistent grooming and vet care
• Maintain a safe, stable home

Preparing for Your Puppy
What should I have ready before bringing my puppy home?
Puppy-proof your home by removing small hazards and setting up a safe space such as a crate or puppy pen. Gather essentials like food, bowls, toys, grooming tools, and cleaning supplies. We also recommend scheduling your puppy’s first vet appointment ahead of time.
What should I expect on pickup day?
On pickup day, your puppy will go home freshly bathed with:
• Veterinary records
• A small bag of food
• Your Health Guarantee
Bring a crate or towel for the car ride and plan for a calm transition.
What should I do before bedtime?
Establish a gentle routine: avoid late naps, offer a final potty break, and stop food/water around 6 p.m. once your puppy is consistently eating and drinking throughout the day.
Where should my puppy sleep at night?
We suggest crate training from the start. Placing the crate beside your bed offers comfort while supporting independence and preventing separation anxiety.
What size crate do I need?
A 24–30 inch crate with a divider panel works well for growing puppies.
What schedule should my puppy follow?
A consistent routine for meals, potty breaks, crate time, and play helps your puppy adjust quickly and develop healthy habits.
Should I crate train my puppy?
Yes! Crate training supports potty training, safety, and structure. We introduce crate exposure before your puppy goes home.
What food is my puppy currently eating?
Your puppy goes home eating [insert your brand], along with a couple of bags for a smooth transition.
What size collar does my puppy need?
Because puppies grow quickly, we do not send collars home. Instead, we recommend adjustable collar options and sizes that fit your puppy’s age and build.
When can I visit my puppy?
To protect our litters from outside pathogens, we do not allow in-person visits before pickup day. We provide photos, updates, temperament notes, and virtual options as appropriate.
